Open a .pub file on a Mac
Updated
Microsoft never made Publisher for Mac, so a Mac cannot open .pub files on its own. Upload the file here from Safari or Chrome to get a PDF, Pages-friendly Word file or Keynote-friendly PowerPoint file, or install LibreOffice for Mac and open the file in LibreOffice Draw.
How to open a Publisher file on a Mac
- Upload your .pub files. Choose one file or up to 25 files on the home page. Each file can be up to 50 MB.
- Check the free preview. Page 1 of each file shows as a picture. You can download page 1 as a PDF for free.
- Download the format you need. Pay once to get every page as PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) and PNG images in one zip.
Best file for each Mac app
- Preview: use the PDF.
- Pages: use the Word (.docx) file.
- Keynote: use the PowerPoint (.pptx) file. Text boxes stay editable.
- Canva in the browser: use the PowerPoint file.
Fonts on a Mac
Publisher files often use Windows fonts. If your Mac does not have one, Pages or Keynote shows a warning and swaps in another font. Pick a close match.
