Convert a Publisher file to PowerPoint

Updated

Publisher cannot save as PowerPoint, but this site can: each Publisher page becomes one slide at the same page size, with every text box editable in the same place. Photos are separate pictures you can move, and the rest of the design sits behind them as a background picture.

How to convert a Publisher file to PowerPoint

  1. Upload your .pub files. Choose one file or up to 25 files on the home page. Each file can be up to 50 MB.
  2. Check the free preview. Page 1 of each file shows as a picture. You can download page 1 as a PDF for free.
  3. Download the format you need. Pay once to get every page as PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) and PNG images in one zip.

Why PowerPoint is a good new home

Microsoft lists Word and PowerPoint as the replacements for Publisher for flyers, cards and similar work. PowerPoint keeps free placement of text and pictures, which is close to how Publisher works.

What is editable

Use it in Canva or Google Slides

The same .pptx file imports into Canva and Google Slides. See Publisher to Canva.

Questions

Can Publisher export to PowerPoint?

No. Publisher can save as PDF, image and some other formats, but not as a PowerPoint file.

Is the text editable?

Yes. Every Publisher text box becomes a PowerPoint text box at the same position.

What if the text does not fit?

Fonts that are missing on your computer can make text longer. Long text is set slightly smaller so it stays inside its box. Check each slide.
